Can you tell me what the typical service contact costs? Right now we are paying almost 5g.
It depends on which program you go with:
Service only:
M3: $440/month for year 2 and $587/month for year 3
M5: $551/month for year 2 and $736/month for year 3
Procare
M3 with no print heads: $406/month for year 2 and $541/month for year 3
M5 with no print heads: $507/month for year 2 and $677/month for year 3
M3 with 1 print head/year: $703/month for year 2 and $838/month for year 3
M5 with 1 print head/year: $804/month for year 2 and $974/month for year 3
Keep in mind the new warranty is really solid at 2 years on parts and 1 year of labor. Of the dozen M series we sold, we have (knock on wood) yet to replace a print head in nearly 2 years. In fact, we've not had to do much service work at all on the M series printers. the new warranty really showed Canon's resolve to improve on things like the chiller and curing lamps which are very expensive and were in need of being replaced way too often on the 1650 series.
You really should consider buying through a dealer like me. I don't think there are any active dealers in Oklahoma, but any dealer can set you up to have the machine installed and serviced by Canon directly. The advantage here is you have someone who speaks fluent Canon. Even then there can be problems. But without someone who knows how to work the system it can be difficult to resolve issues. Most of the direct Canon techs are just break-fix guys. They don't know how to troubleshoot - they just throw parts at problems. My tech can troubleshoot problems and try to avoid costly repairs. Buying through a dealer is the exact same cost but one more layer of support.
A very good question for this forum is "does anyone have a Colorado near me and being serviced by Canon? If so, how is it going?"
If you've any interest in a quote, by all means let me know. I'm even happy to chew over your options on the phone even if you still want to go direct as I'd never want to see someone throw money out the window if the Colorado isn't a good investment. Feel free to call.
