Color shift placing files in PS

I'm getting a color shift when placing a vector object into photoshop.. I've checked all of my color settings, and they look fine. I've even played with them without any luck. Working in Adobe RGB 1998. I've tried starting over with a brand new file too. Still shifting from PMS 208 in Illustrator to PMS 216 in PS. Any ideas?? Thanks!

I know you said you checked your color settings, but go into Adobe Bridge, and sync your colors in there so its consistent throughout your Adobe Suite. Open Bridge > Edit > Creative Suite Color Settings select your custom profile that you created in Illustrator or Photoshop and click Apply to sync them.

Okay. here's another interesting bit for ya..

I'm using colors PMS 208 and PMS 123. 208 is shifting to 215, but 123 is staying 123?? Now I don't think it's a color settings problem, cause wouldn't 123 shift too?

And George, one of my computers (running CS3 v2.0.0.975 has the color settings option, but mine (CS3 v2.1.0.100 doesn't.))

On that note...did you buy them as the Creative Suite? or as separate purchases? If you did not buy the package as CS then you cannot sync your colors this way so you will need to create identical profiles for each and manually import them. Be sure that you check off the Advanced check box in the profile section so you can see the other options. Under conversion options you should be using Adobe (ACE) for the engine and for the Intent Relative Colorimetric. Do not use Absolute Colorimetric unless you have seriously nailed all your profiles and devices throughout your workflow or else your colors are going to be seriously out of whack.

do the 2.1.1.9 update and you should get your option back for Bridge, there was a problem with that older upgrade and screwed a lot of stuff up especially some of the Camera RAW features (if you need them i dont know). But there were many complaints about the menu item for Color Syncing not being there after that update.

I appreciate all your help, George. I never did get this figured out. Upgraded both CS2 and CS3, and I still don't see the option. Like I said above though, I don't think it's a color settings issue, because the other color in the file didn't change.

I ended up just rasterizing the layer and paint bucketing the color I needed. I didn't want to rasterize until I final approval on the artwork, which I got today. At least now I can print it over the weekend (31' RV wrap).. Fun stuff!

Thanks again!

Javila,
Use the eye dropper tool to select the color, then go to the picker. On the right hand side, hit "color libraries" and you can choose whichever Pantone library you have loaded..

George,
I'll contact you on Monday when I'm back at the shop. The final file size is 1.2G, so I'll send you a smaller version!
