I knew this was going to be because of the cost of AI. Well if you don't use their AI then it doesn't seem like that big of an issue.
AI is overpriced and wasteful on energy. It has it's place but the novelty is mostly worn away.

Now that they lost the lawsuit on their shady subscription practices, I'm wondering if I can turn off the auto renewal now.

Don't need proof or .edu
Didn't used to be that way, if they changed it. It used to be that had to show either a teacher or a student with current enrollment at an approved institution. Usually also came with neutered abilities as well (couldn't use it for commercial use, things like that, now back in they day, might have been harder to keep tabs on, nowadays, I highly doubt it being hard to do).

But, I'm glad that I don't have to continue on with them. Used to like their products, especially the ease of interop between them, but not worth it. AI or what passes for AI as it is now, certainly isn't worth it

AI, Yes and sort of NO. I don't use it (beyond gigapixel), but it does give the option of an infinite number of monkeys painting the Sistine Chapel, if some one were looking for inspiration. Pick one of three.

For tricky problems, nothing used to work better than a couple of games of pool with the right colleague, with a couple of pints (568mlx2).
Problem (re)solved.

To me, one doesn't need to have "AI" if one is merely looking for "inspiration". There really isn't a problem that "AI" solves except trying to do as little work as one can. I don't mind some "abstraction" to handle some things, but "AI" just takes to far, far too much. It's along the lines of "auto trace/power trace/" whatever the software of choice calls it on steroids. But again, I'm from a time that came before digital (certainly at this level) was a thing. Older I get, the more I just want to drag out the ole Speedball, india ink and just turn off the computer.

To each their own. I don't usually get along with the other kids (I know, real shocker I'm sure), so I don't do stuff like that.
