Polar Grip from Drytac works well if they are just that - decals. If you are 'wrapping' the helmet then stick with a cast....but a simple mascot logo etc is just fine with Polar Grip laminated with InterLam Pro Gloss laminate.

We use General Formulations 201 HTAP (hi-tac) vinyl w/ 3M 8418G gloss laminate for decals like that, and most of our decals for that matter.

In this case the client is wrapping goalie masks. I did forewarn our customer that all we had was Arlon SLX+ and 3170 laminate which he tried as he was in a real bind. He felt it did not have adequate initial tack and was difficult to work with.

I have another option for him to try to get him through but I'll definitely look into these suggestions.

In that case you could always try 3M IJ180mC-10LSE - the high tack version of IJ180. We use it as our "premium" high tack vinyl, although I can't say I've wrapped a helmet with it, nor would I want to.

I was under the impression hockey masks and helmets of all types are usually hydro-dipped. That is the decal floats on the surface of a water tank and the helmet or mask is raised into the decal. The process is also used for motorcycle tanks and gunstocks. If someone wanted a team full of helmets from us, I would likely outsource it to a hydro-dipper. Big enough order, I'd buy the equipment.

Grimco Briteline Duration X IM3202X or Arlon 4500 are our go-to s for sticky vinyl decals with air release. Laminate them with whatever you have around and it will likely last longer than the helmet.

For a wrap, I recall that 3M IJ175 is pretty sticky, but I don't have experience in wrapping a helmet or facemask so I wouldn't swear on it. You might try a sample though.

I've wrapped goalie masks with 3m 480+8548. Note that wrapping a helmet in vinyl, at least here in Canada, voids the CSA certification.

I'm guessing this is because the vinyl may conceal any damage that may compromise the protection of the user.
