Deflections

I sent this nozzle test on request over to Rolands Technical department as I was having some banding issues on my Black prints.
They replied with "I can see some deflections in the nozzles, this will require a possible engineer visit."
I cannot believe the issues I am are caused by deflections as I cannot see any, especially regarding some of the other deflections I have seen of other peoples problems.
Is this just Rolands way of charging for a new print head?

Thanks

That nozzle check is basically perfect. Where the 2 passes meet up it looks slightly funky but that's probably just because your print feed calibration isn't 100% perfect. My best guess is they didn't zoom in. Nozzle checks always look weird unless at full size.

That being said, if you do the nozzle check in service mode, it will print the smaller dot nozzle check and that could reveal issues with the head. What issue are you having?

Looks like a DX7 printer with 2xCMYC...
Looks perfect to me.
Check the small dots in service mode, as mentioned by Solventinkjet.

The issues are shown on the below print.
When printing black on bi-directional I am getting this banding, this is not showing in any other colour.
It prints perfect in uni-directional.

This is a VersaEXPRESS RF-640.

How do access service mode and carry out a nozzle test?
I have been told this could be an alignment issue. Is this something I could carry out?

try to change the speed, you more likely are using high speed, also do a feed calibration.

This could be drying related. Go higher with the print heater, lower the head speed or add a delay between passes to verify.

I think your putting down too much ink over saturating the media. Try changing the profile to generic vinyl 2 or 3 and see if that helps

Nothing has changed and it was printing perfectly before.
If you run it on a uni-directional print it prints unbelievable (but takes twice as long).
I have been told the print head needs manually calibrated.

Are you using ink cartridges or a bulk ink system? On my SG3 we sometimes get a little banding if the inks have been sat for too long and need "agitating" a good shake seems to help! Sometimes the simplest solutions are the best!

We are using Roland OEM Eco Sol MAX 3 cartridges
I have used other brands of ink in it but have had issues with non original inks.
The thing is about shaking cartridges is by the time the ink that has been shaken gets through the ink lines & too the print head, could be days later if not longer.

That sounds frustrating. Sometimes support teams suggest an engineer visit as a precaution, even if the issue seems minor. Could also be a way to upsell a replacement. Maybe ask them to clarify exactly what they’re seeing before scheduling anything.

I changed the profile from Generic Vinyl 2 to Generic Vinyl 2HD and everything is good again.
If I do a print in Generic Vinyl 2 Uni-Directional everything is perfect also, but takes twice as long.
