Dodged a bullet this morning...

I had a really small print job for a customer to knock out this morning.

Printed it and laid it out on the table to trim the edges. Like I said, pretty small, so I grabbed a straight edge ruler - not one with a vertical guard (fore shadowing). Trimmed sides 1, 2, and 3... and then it happened.

As I made the last cut, I sliced down the side of my finger! I immediately thought... "Way to go slick - that's gonna make it hard to pick your nose for a few days" I expected to see a good amount of blood - but not a drop. Obviously I sliced it just deep enough to take off a good chunk, but not enough to bleed. Got really lucky.

Lesson learned - slow down and use the right tools.

One of the reasons that cutting mats are so important. I have seen shops using 1/8" pvc to cut on or tin...but if the knife gets stuck in one of the grooves... bye bye finger tip.
