doin hand built pottery

this is 1st stage of a 11-12" long casserole dish. need to let it dry to a "leather hard" form, then i can add handles of some sort and maybe a lid.

if you got a leather belt, this sorta explains it. its still flexible, but maintains a stiffness of form. in pottery its when the clay gets dry enough to hold its form, but still has not hardened to a solid state.

oooh, that makes sense. guess it would be messed up trying to attach handles too soon, or cave in trying to fit a lid.

this is very interesting... looking forward to seeing the stages!
