edge printing like a fine dust!!!!?

I was running a 2 colour job on my edge and both colours ran into this strange effect that almost looks like a fine dust powder. It is in about a 3 foot section of this roll of Avery A6 Beige.
Posting a pic what you think causes this?

Thats what I suspect as the debris field seems to travel through both colours at the same rough spots. I just have never seen such a small sprc and so concentrated before. What do you suppose could get on the magterial to cause this? weird. I also ordered a 10 yard roll of this colour and when I picked it up they give me 2 rolls telling me that they add up to 10. How did they know I didn't need 10 yards in 1 piece? stranger still

I did not as generally I have never seen anything quite so ivvasive before. If I do rub down the material I use distilled water.

I always use 99% iso - i heard water messes with the head

but generally i dont wipe down the media either...just the head
