Epson S40600 - Missing Nozzles

Had this machine for 6 years now and I printed with it last week and had no missing nozzles at all. Occasionally I'd have to run a light cleaning to get a couple back. This time though the H2 Cyan and Magenta will not come back. I've done light through heavy cleanings several times with no luck. And of course I have a rush order I need to print on it.

Could this be a capping issue?

Maybe capping. Have you done a manual head cleaning, with swab and cleaning solution? Do you power off machine when not using?

No it's been on all the time. I don't use it as often as I used to but it still does it's auto cleanings. I did take a wet swab and put it on the head to let it soak up some fluid. That didn't help. I did a head wash and it still is not good, it improved it but didn't fix it.

Shouldn't have just died out of nowhere. How are you cleaning it? Grab some cleaning fluid and let it soak for a while. Could also be air trapped in the damper .check if the wiper blade's worn out too. And lastly, just check the ink.

people have suggested a prolonged soak with a coffee filter wrapped around the head area
the point is keeping it WET with cleaning fluid (i would mix in a small quantity <5-10%> of acetone)

after you recover the head you probably want to do what i do, and print a 4 inch color wheel every day.
this moves all inks every day

we have printed INFREQUENTLY since my wifes medical problems, i am hardly in the shop & my heads are still fine after 3 years

Looking at the nozzle check, I'd be hesitant to assume the head is bad right away. Since both M2 and C2 dropped out together and a head wash improved things somewhat, I'd be looking closely at the maintenance side first.

On a 6-year-old S40600, I'd inspect the cap top seal, pump, wiper, and especially the dampers for those channels. If air is getting introduced or the cap isn't pulling proper suction, repeated cleanings won't accomplish much.

Sudden failure across neighboring channels usually makes me suspect ink delivery or maintenance components before condemning the head. Curious if you've checked whether the cap top is drawing fluid evenly from both channels during a cleaning cycle?
