Error code 79:04

Hi all!

I’m having the error code 79:04 come up when I’m half way through a print job. My machine is an HP latex 570. In the last month I’ve had to replace the belt. I had a head strike the other day and it took out my magenta yellow print head. I didn’t have another one on the shelf so I used and old one. It seem to work after so I sent another print job and it stopped half way through with the same error. I then ordered new print heads and when I started the machine again the black cyan print head had an X through it. I replaced the black cyan print head and sent another job. It again stopped half way through with the same error. If anyone could give me some insight on this that would be great. I’m only a year into this industry and I hate to have to call a tech again cause this machine has already cost me a ton of money over the first year.

79:04 is a generic firmware error that almost never points to firmware. With the 365, it’s about 20 pages in the service manual for troubleshooting.

You said you had a head crash. Start there. I would power off printer unplug from wall. This erases recent memory on boards. While unplugged open maintenance station door and gently pull cleaning cartridge forward to free carriage. Open hood remove all printheads relock carriage cover close hood and power up. Let the printer boot with no heads and ask you to install. Install heads properly and see if any have an issue.
Hopefully this fixes your issue but maybe it will point to another error more specific to your problem.

Ok thank you! I’ll give this a shot tomorrow and see if this works.

Just to confirm: 79.04 can be triggered by a faulty head.
For me it is usually a problem with a job.
When the printer goes dead during a job I would erase the job from the rip and start a whole new calculation process.
Reload the job to the rip. And try again.
