External drive

My external drive isnt being recognized? I have switched usb ports, etc.. still not there. Any ideas what to do? thanks

did you restart the computer after changing USB ports?
I'm far from an expert on this stuff... if fact I'm below average among some of the talent around here... but as a wild guess, I would restart the computer while it's plugged into the port you plan to run it from & see if it finds it in the restart process.
