Question Firmware

I have an XR 640 that I installed a new main board that I cannot seem to load the firmware. Loading tries were over network and directly through laptop computer both using regular cat5 and crossover cat5. Neither will allow me to find the printer. Peck6 allowed me to remove the data from old board etc..All using the same methods. Anyone ever get a new OEM board with a bad network???

get a cheap network switch and use 2 ethernet cables
it is at least 12 years since Microsoft announced that crossover cables are not supported. they work when they want to..
