Gerber edge 2 communication error

Hi, I have a Gerber Edge 2 running on windows do old school I know. Still using parallel port. I have really only one specific job I run on this anymore. In this job I heve 4 colors. I get a communication error almost every time between each color. Have to terminate job and select colors and eliminate the colors already done in job. Any idea why I would constantly loose communication. I also randomly get where it tries to run in like safe mode, I feel it intermittently looses connection with the security key.
Thanks in advance Joe

what is the pc? does it actually have a parallel port ? or is it a usb >parallel adapter
if a real parallel port, you probably need to change the MODE (standard, bidirectional, ECP, EPP)
i haven't touched one of these in years, (mine have been setup forever)

i believe there were a couple postings that said only the Gerber version of this adapter works properly

this is probably because of the default MODE of the gerber adapter matching what is needed to print without error

I remember having as issue like that many years ago and I think it had something to do with the particular port it was trying to use, but can't remember the fix

if it is an "add on " card it may have switches or jumpers to set mode
if it is a connector on the motherboard, you go into bios & set mode in 'integrated peripherals"

if i get to the office tomorrow i will look for the settings that work with an edge 2
honestly i forget.

Earth loop could corrupt data communication. Make sure Parallel port is set to ECP (would not work other ways).
Try different printer cable. Olders are better. connect the EDGE to the same Power outlet as the computer.

Do not need XP to have ECP parallel port. I have one on my HP Elitebook on it's Docking station. i7 processor and runs Windows10 64bit and Omega2.61
