Gold Calendered and Cast Vinyls onto Black Vehicles

I have come across issues with the life span applying Gold Calendered and Cast Vinyls onto Black Vehicles.
Seemingly it just does not last, even the Cast media.
This is becoming a huge issue even here in the UK with our hot summers now.

I have found gold and silver calendared vinyls do not last at all. We always use cast now for them.

Calendared vinyl doesn't last.

Metallics always have shorter lifespan, even among the same vinyl type. Solid color cast vinyl is often stated to have 9-10 year life whereas the same brand and type of metallic will have a 7 year life.

I've never had an issue with cast metallics, I would use cast instead. I've used to TON of cast Oracal silver grey metallic over the last 10 years.

If your using metallic film on anything it should be cast High Performance film.
I use Cast 3M satin aluminum.


The intermediate grade films should be
Used for birthday and graduation party show cards and banners only…

High performance film is usually rated for 7-8 years but I’ve seen last much longer.
Metallic / Cast films are rated less.. usually 5 at most
