Easier to think in thirds. Draw an imaginary tic tac toe grid evenly on your sign shape. Place things you want to emphasize at the intersections of the lines. (That's a kind of intersectionality I can get behind). Or along the lines, since we are typically dealing with lines of text.

Did not know about lightroom, but I see it's available in the crop tool in photoshop as well.
That figures - I do almost all my batching and image editing in LR, so makes sense it's available in PS
