Graphtec plotter - "Can't Open Port" error

I agree,that is the worst connection the unit has.

They stick out too far, and are not firmly connected like serial ports

I've taped the usb on to keep it connected

It'll be the socket.. They get knocked and it breaks the solder joints.. Easy to fix though

Hey guys, so I got it connected thanks to everyone's help!

But now I have another problem, sometimes the cutter will say Error 1: Instructions not recognized. Other times it will connect to pc but only when its on load media screen or menu-> interface -> RS232 page.

Any help is appreciated!

Make sure the serial settings on the computer match those on the plotter. Sounds like something is too fast and is filling the buffer without the plotter telling the pc to stop sending data

these can help. (before they are broken, of course)

it's like a static mat, or adding a humidifier to a hot air heated space.
