GX-540 tips and enable 'Extend' Cutting

Been meaning to post this all summer but... you know how it goes.
A lot has been posted in a thread recently but I will start a new
thread- perhaps easier to find.

I bought a GX-540 to complement my Vp-540 and speed up production.
The VP is 4years old and running perfectly. No heads / only consumables.
We do no wholesale but keep *very* busy with our own work (16y in biz
on a busy highway (also a busy intersection).

I was troubled like everyone else about the 48" cut width but could not
spare space for a GX-640. The reality is the cut width is not a big deal!

I learned from our Dana on the board that the 500 has the same 'extended'
cut feature as on the 640- but can only be enabled by a Roland tech. My
longtime and faithful techs company lost the Roland dealership so he couldn't help-
but Bobby at CiberSupply came thru for me- thanks again.

So here goes- To turn on the extend feature on GX-500:

Machine power off>
Press- left/down/right arrows while turning on power>
navigate to system switch( forget just how- but not too hard)
Change the 6th zero to '1' (00000100)
Return to regular menu> to condition> to Extend> increase to 1.0 inch
The cutter will now cut a max of about 49.25 inches instead of the normal 47and a fraction.

Your machine will now cut to the limit positions in the .pdf- the detection area of the reg marks are also marked.

Avoiding having to trim off one side of the 54" media- is a function of
printing in the correct area of the 54"- If you mark the cut/detect info
from the cutter on a scrap of media you will see where your reg marks
have to fall. I have that info for the VP540 (it has movable outer rollers
and I have the correct spots marked) but if your printer does not have
movable rollers you will have to play with the software to move the
origin to the left of full width.

If anyone is still awake and has ?s please post. I have more comments
on the GX-500 that I will post in the review section. Gene

I tired this and had no problem with finding the 6th zero to change, but I cannot locate the Extend menu in the Condition menu. To clarify, after you have changed the 6th zero, you turn off the machine and turn it back on, load media and then find the condition menu?

I've tried every menu and sub menu, but can't find it.

I wonder if this would work with any of the Printer / cutter machines..... You say it works on the GX640 - has anyone tried it with a Versacamm?

What version is your firmware?
v1.7 . When i start the machine is says Main:A170 and I have downloaded the latest firmware and tried to install, but the program says I have the latest intsalled.

Condition> right arrow> down to extend
I'm beginning to wonder what is wrong with my machine. Here is a video showing the options I see under the condition menu and extend isn't one of them.

Mine goes- Quality / Extend / Force

I don't think it appears until you change the (00000100) in the service
menu.
