Wondering if anyone can maybe explain a little on why this is happening. Im a very new user and dont have the money to pay a tech to fix and im pretty handy and fixing things myself. The machine is a mimaki jv3 130sp2.

Sorry guys the machine is old, im a new user to the machine i work for a commercial real estate sign company and im the production manager. So there is no warranties on the machine. The tech that usually works on the machine is out of town for a few weeks and we are in high demand for our signs. I will post the nozzle checks. Im using avery media and have never had a problem.

no idea

edit: i posted that before the images showed up. That looks BAD - if thats static, youd be getting shocked just looking at the machine - post a nozzle check

also, what media is it?

First guess would be super static, like never before.

Other than that, you couldn't get that effect if you wanted to do it.

Oh, and by the way.... if you're a new user, the machine should come with free tech support for at least a year or two.

Posted new pics and info. I also have ran the cleaning cycle and filled up ink still all the same problems.

I would personally soak it in cleaner -- on my machine, I turn it off, manually lower the caps, move the head away, fill the cap with solvent cleaner, move the head back, and manually re-raise the caps.

Come back in the morning, run a clean, should look better.

As what John Hill says do it overnight. Or go into maintenence/ nozzle wash/ fill the liquid/ and set it for 5 mins but turn off the power at the back overnight
The other thing is what height is the carriage set thick or thin? If thick I have seen it look like that when not printing on banner type material
Make sure you dont have a fan or aircon blowing against or towards the heads as you will get the same result.
If the soak does not fix I would say you need a new black head.

Ok, So i came in this morning and went to start the printer and do a nozzle check and the dam thing wont even turn on. I hit the power button the lcd flashes on for one sec with nothing on it and goes back off but the main power button in the front is still illuminated? Ive unplugged it and plugged back in several times and the same result. It was fine yesterday i unplugged it when i was working on the machine like i do with anything that has to deal with electronics. Now im worried something is seriously wrong now, is there some kind of fuse that could of been blown? or saftey feature that has to deal with power management?
