Hey guys I bought a new Samsung pro laptop running an ultra 7 chipset I installed my software, set up exactly the same as my old laptop but every time I try to plot something I get this message -

"Summa USB Port Unable to open output channel"

It is on Summa port 1 same as before and I tried setting it up as HGPL AND SUMMA D60R

Reinstalled several times but I just get the same message I am using Sign Wizard 7 pro software...

Any advice would be very much appreciated :)

Check USB Class setting on the cutter.
Make sure latest USB Driver installed.
Too long cable can cause bad connection as well.

Which operating system are you using on your new computer(looks like Windows 11, but just want to confirm that before making any recommendations) and what version of Sign Wizard are you using? Have you tried installing Winplot and using that to send the cut files to your Summa?

is there ACTUALLY a com1 on the laptop?

it is rare these days to see a db9 connector

most devices still have a com1 and com2 even if they are just phantom devices, and perhaps a header on the motherboard, deep in the laptop

if you are using a usb to serial device, it would normally be com4 or 5

so FIRST QUESTION:
what connector is the summa plugged into? (db9 at the end of a usb cable?)

I had a somewhat similar issue last week. I never had any issues connecting to many different Summas over USB with my notebook, while it ran win10. I lately upgraded to win11.
So I came to this S2 and wanted to do a backup of the parameters with cutter control. I wasn't able to connect. I reinstalled the USB driver and CutterControl, restarted the computer but still nothing. I realized, that the cutter firmware was from around 2013...
So I connected via Ethernet and voila, was able to backup and install the actual firmware.
After that, USB was working again.
