Apples and Oranges . There are Flippers , Pickers , Resellers and people that outsource most of their work, or resell things they bought. I will never make a banner or sign that says " wholesale to the public " for a customer. Vista print lists prices always tried to upsell you. Well my real point is that 99.9 percent of our business purchases are raw materials. 500 blanks of something and 2 cases of transfer tape. 100 blanks of another . Usually complete case lots. We create the finished product and quality control. If a customer asks " why so much" I can honestly say , it's not like I take it off the shelf or order it from some other company , We make it right here. In my opinion there is a difference between Resell and Wholesale . But I deal in mostly blank items , not selling an item that someone else made.

As long as people are familiar with the concept of wholesale this shouldn’t be an issue.

There’s a reason, say, Walmart can sell you goods cheaper than your local shop. They’re buying in bulk and selling for less BUT selling more, a lot more.

Things your local shop can offer you (most of the time) would include better service, a full service from artwork generation to installing it for you, better quality finished product (or at least more control over the quality) and a faster turnaround amongst other things.

I can see why people use wholesalers for 100+ copies or larger jobs but who goes to a wholesaler for 4 yard signs? (Unless you don’t have a shop, obviously)

I'm just not quite sure why you felt it was necessary to publicly bash one of our own Merchant Members, obviously your post was directed at them. Naturally they will not be the best choice on every product and quantity as anyone else in the world but from my personal experience they are an excellent supplier with great quality and service behind their products, not to mention that they are a very pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful contributor here on our forum. I'm sure that anyone who needs something is capable of doing their own price shopping before making a purchase and when it benefits them, they will buy from our Merchant Members and when it does not then they will buy from others, without the need to call them out on a particular product or quantity they didn't happen to be the best on.

Who did he call out? He is comparing resources and even added 2 when someone brought them up.

So here's a question for all of you retailers...how do you deal with online price Who**s that spouts cheaper pricing than you can provide your customers? I know the deal....I tell my clients if they want to go to one of those fly by night outfits online, they're better off taking the money to a local casino and putting it all on black.
I only deal with Professional design shops, sign shops and legit business who resell my product. I have been doing this for 15 years and constantly get asked about my pricing. Based on the original post here, My prices on certain substrates are cheaper the my competitors. But don't match my pricing...match the quality of what we do here. If your file is low res...bad for any reason, we tell you at inspection of it. Ever have that issue you sent the wrong file and you got that in return? Oops...we try our damndest to let you know there is an issue like that. The attention to your job that it requires to be sure it comes off that printer right the first time. Goes thru the finishing process and is packed and shipped on time and on budget.
My merchant prices are NOT for general public. So Im personally glad that I was not included in that list...if I was it would have been requested to be removed immediately.
We do awesome work for our clients...always have...always will.

I hardly consider any of the companies I posted "fly by night". They are all reputable, good quality producers and I would personally use any of them. I'm not familiar with you or your reputation and would be hesitant to add you to such a proven list of companies.

This was not a reference to those companies at all. This was a question directed at YOU the retailers, how do YOU talk to clients when someone comes in and said they got your quote and found it cheaper on the internet or such.

I wouldn't be hesitant to add myself to that list one iota.

I think what some are referring to is... there is a category titled exactly for this kinda nonsense. It's under the Sign Making (open to all members) called Sales, Marketing and Pricing etc. I'm not sure if it's still in effect, but guests nor outsiders could see it at all. Fred had made a select few categories soley for membership eyes only. Out here, anyone and their uncle can see this sh!t. I hafta agree, this is not the place for this sorta thing, regardless of what the original intentions were about.

There are some other statements in this thread which are totally complexing. I don't understand some of the statements about their concept on wholesaling and what it should or should not be.

Personally, we deal with this all the time. We tell them it's a great deal and they should take it, but if they need a direct approach to contact us when they are ready. Sometimes it goes well for them and they are happy with online, other times it blows up and they seek solutions.

Didn’t mean to open a can of worms....

I'm just used to sending and comparing prices via message, or like gino said.. We have a pricing forum for vips. I figured it was there because we were supposed to discuss pricing in open forums.. I don't see it as a big deal, mainly because I'm from Canada and no one's going to stumble upon s101.

I think the threads fine as is. So long as it doesn't lead everyone to start posting prices.

Maybe we can get a forum for people who've been a member for 6+ months, or has xx amount of posts. Then it'd be open to more people... But may cut into vip profits, so who knows. There is no perfect excuse.

The quality and service we provide...HANDS DOWN YES.

WYLD has been around for longer than us. While I have not worked with them personally, I hear nothing but good things. There are others that I have met around too like SgnTm and PrntTrdrr who are stand up companies. (I obscured the names so a search won't bring up a list of their competitors)

I like this post. To be compared to the largest wholesalers in the country is pretty cool. There are probably 50 more wholesalers that are larger than us and smaller than the ones listed.

This is also a bit eye opening. You guys need every penny of margin you can get. While we win hands down on the relationships and higher volume stuff, we all need the little jobs to get customers in the door. We're working on getting leaner so we can help with that. Better every day!

BTW: This form sends an email to the owners. We're the only ones that check it, and we stay on top of it. Tell us about your experience!

Last I looked, there were 28 "guests" watching this thread and 16 members. So, as for no one can see it, means diddly, so I would venture to say, let's try to keep business models and pricing to ourselves and not to the damned public.

Why do you think there are so many categories ?? Just for the heck of it ?? Some people need to discipline a little more than just this covid19 stuff. C'mon folks, try to put your unused time to better use. :peace!:

Thanks for your post and your company is clearly the place to go if you want the best price on volume. Not having the best price on small stuff is OK if you're after big orders. At least with this post shows where the five companies stand side by side. I've never researched all 5 companies to compare prices so this helped me too. I never knew you guys had such good pricing on volume so I will be sending that to you.
