L25500 - problems switching it on

Hi Folks, I have an L25500 problem: nearly half the time I got to switch it on, it won't turn on. (via the button on the console at the front right.
Am I the only one with this issue?
Sometimes unplugging the 15 amp plugs at the back and replugging them helps - other times it does not.
Any suggestions appreciated, thanks!

Have you oiled the carriage rail recently? This is just a guess, but after a weekend or cold spell.we have an intermittent problem with our 25500 starting then shutting down immediately. Often we'll restart and get the message to oil the carriage rail. Might be worth a try to clean, oil, and replace felt pads. Also, be sure to use a thin mineral oil if not using the HP oil (which I'm guessing is exactly that). My understanding is that there is a sensor that detects excess friction on the carriage rail. Also, be sure to occasionally clean/oil the top rail.

Also, there is a test in the diagnostic menu to test the buttons on the front panel.

Thanks for the replies... there's alot you could do for diagnostics IF it would turn on. But it won't,now.
To the best of my ability to diagnose it, the problem is the small PC based power supply - it must be fried.
Luckily I have a few old PCs I can dissect for parts... but it;s tiresome job getitng that one out - you sort-of have to undo the rest of the machine away from it!

Thanks, re selling one for parts- but freight from NY to Australia would be a bit past my budget!

For what it's worth, I established it was a power supply failure.
$250 for a new one, and 2 hours to remove the old one, about the same to put the new one in, and it's working again!
