Need Help Laminator only runs in reverse

I have a Royal Sovereign rsc1401c laminator that only works in reverse. I am not able to increase speed in order to activate forward movement. The speed light doesn’t move at all when pressed. I hear a beep when I press reverse or stop but nothing when I press run. I sent the mainboard out to be checked out. They replaced a couple of capacitors and cleaned the board but still only works in reverse. Any suggestions?

Pull off the side cover, the switch circuit board under the buttons comes off with a couple (or 1 I dont recall) screws. The pad has conductive pads that complete a connection between 2 traces on the board. Play around with a small conductive something (think aluminum foil tape on a pencil eraser) to see if you can get it to respond. I think ours was the speed up and start buttons that were acting up. I basically made a new conductive surface for the molded buttons and that has been working good. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have questions.

Just a wild shot but could it be the sensor that shuts off the machine when the path is restricted? It won't let it go forward? Just something to check anyway. Good luck.

Royal Sovereign is no longer in business. That is a good idea to check the path sensor, but I agree with medina, the conductive coating on the rubber keys was the issue with ours.

Thanks for the advice. I removed cover and got to the switch service board and had the same problem. By the way, the aluminum foil on the pencil eraser was a great idea. When I used the aluminum foil on the traces for reverse it worked. When I used it on the stop I heard a beep. When I used it on speed up, speed down, or run there was no response.

I sent a board here about 2 years ago that wasn't working. They had it a couple days, replaced a few things on it that I could tell and has worked ever since. But my problem was the machine would power on but would not turn the motor on.
the electronics are really not that complicated,
it's something i am sure they can still fix
