Need Help Mimaki UCJV300 Shaking During Printing + Excess Ink at Start . Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I’m having an issue with my Mimaki UCJV300 and I’m hoping to get some advice from anyone who has experienced this before.
The printer is shaking/vibrating a lot while printing, even though the floor is perfectly level. At the start of each print, the carriage also releases too much ink, almost like an ink dump or splatter, before continuing normally.
Here’s what I’ve noticed so far:
  • Floor is even and machine is stable
  • Shaking only happens when the carriage starts printing
  • First few millimeters of the print show excess ink / splatter
  • After that, the print looks normal
Has anyone dealt with shaking or ink splatter on the UCJV300 before?
What ended up being the fix for you?
Any guidance or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! attached is the video for reference

Make sure wheels are locked and blocked up, could be rolling. Also, lubricate rails and check to make sure belt system is snug.

Is that one of the wheels on the ground below ink tanks?

The shaking is definitely something the UCJV printers do.

Do you have a picture of the ink splatter?

Are heads set to "low" position?

This guy here, wheels ramp into them and rest in the recess.

and be sure the bolts on the stand are all tight.
i used to see this ALL THE TIME pre-retirement, when i was doing service calls on wide format printers
obviously there are many other causes but this always comes to mind

Yeah, the bolts will look tight and feel finger tight. But toss an Allen key on them and you can get a good full turn or two before they even snug back up.
