Looking for another R2R UV printer setup in dual CMYK. Anyone know the true speed on a dual CMYK setup on both the Mimaki UCJV330-160 and the Roland LG-640, can't find the info online with sucha setup? how do they compare in quality, speed and any reason for one over the other?

Since you're looking at doing 4 color, I imagine speed is the goal. Based on both companies specs, the Mimaki is the clear winner.

LG-640 343 sqft/hr at 720 × 600 dpi
UCJV330 592 sqft/hr at 600 x 600 dpi (2 pass)
or 440 sqft/hr at 600 x 600 dpi (4 pass)

I went with the UCJV330-160 and should be coming in one of these days. I was thinking of flushing my Ujv-100-160 and switching to a white and varnish inkset. My dealer tells me that I should not mess with that, once you change your asking for trouble. What are your thoughts?

If you're comfortable with rerouting lines and such to enable white circulation, it's not terrible to do a change-over. However, if not familiar with digging around in printer guts, good to have a tech help. Not really an end-user kind of a job.

Gotcha — just to clarify, I wouldn’t be doing the changeover myself. My dealer is saying it’s better not to mess with it at all, even if it’s done professionally, since it can lead to issues later. Do you agree with that, or do you think it’s fine as long as a tech does it right?
