Mutoh 1304 Uni-directional, why?

As a general rule, what benefits does printing Uni-directional offer except to slow the printing process way down??

I am printing a 2'x3' poster that is taking well into an hour to print.

Who in there right mind would print posters soooo slow.
I don't think our 1604 has ever been turned up to its maximum resolution yet.
2x3 should be spat out in minutes not hours. The customer will never know the difference.
Uni-directional means it is only printing on the outward stroke, bi-directional means it is printing on both strokes and twice as fast, but the quality suffers!
As it is harder to make the print join as the ink is going down in different directions.
Our VJ1604 has a way better print quality than the Mimaki JV3 and JV33 of my friends.
