Mutoh VJ 1304 black ink drops on image

Hi,

Can you help me with this please.

We have a Mutoh VJ 1304 and it's just started to dump small drops of black in on the image when printing.

The odd thing is that it only does it when there is black in the image, black text for example. Otherwise it seems to run fine.

I've attached an image to show you what I mean.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Almost always a thread on the bottom of the head or carriage.
Should be near the black.

Sometimes it's just genetics, but I think Randy is right in this case.

If you can't see anything on the head from the front you might want to take the cap off the left end and slide the head all the way over (with the printer off or in CR maintenance mode). From there with a flashlight you can get a good look at the head printing area and the ramps that catch most of the hairs.

I think is some dirt or some fluffy things there. Maybe some hair sticked to your print head. Most of the times those spots appear when the printing carriage suddenly changes its direction.

I'll take a closer look first thing tomorrow.
It seems to have cleared up a bit, but I'll remove the left cover tomorrow.
