My Door's Fallin Off!

Front left door spring snapped and now the cover won't stay open. I've taken it apart and bent it a bit to get me by.
Looks like the part is discontinued? Printer is only 8 years old and parts are discontinued. Dang!

Anyone know where I could source one of these springs? TIA

Lay a small ruler next to it so we can get an idea of size

it is called a torsion spring

find the diameter of the wire and coil buy something similar online

as mentioned in the video stop at a local grainger location

If you don't find one at Granger or your local Hardware store.
You can make one out of a Palet banding strap or some spring steel.
Remember it doesn't have to look pretty.

Most of these hardware products are fairly standard. You can try looking for them at a local hardware store, and if you really can't find one, you can buy a slightly larger one and modify it yourself

Thanks all. I see there's a ton of torsion springs on Grainger canada's site. Unfortunately the one local to me shut down years ago but next time i'm near a store I'll stop in with mine.
Looks like they're sold by specific degrees which makes sense.
