If you didn't follow my "Chez Moose" thread here is a piece that I produced as a limited edition of 50. All White Pine, no sanding and all the colors are transparent stains......this one is 17"x21".

My "Other Job" is carving decorative relief scenes.....mostly country and wildlife themes.

"Bath Bridge"......catchy title huh? :ROFLMAO:

wow!!

looks like the little bird is sliced from a "log" fashioned into a bird profile?

I enjoyed your recent mold making post in Letterville. Would you ever reproduce these original works of art from molds, for a lower cost alternative product to sell, or do you keep each one "sacred" as a one of a kind?

Thanks guys......

Doug.....you made me shudder.....and not in a good way! ;)

I rejected that idea a very long time ago.....cause:

1. It would have to be painted....ergo it would look like plastic.

2. The fine detail would be lost.

3. Undercutting would be minimal.

4. You wouldn't see the grain which is an essential part to help create the "Illusion" of a full 3D image.

You know what that all adds up to?????? 10 LOL

It adds up to just another plaster picture you might find in a flee market or dollar store.

Good friends of mine are bird carvers......they went the mold route for a while.....busy as hell......for a while. Then it crashed cause everyone else did the same along with the usual companies that market molded trinkets. Of course they had lost their loyal customers and today they are hustling to get by.

I'm a WOOD carver.......I'll start molding stuff like this when my hands don't work any more and it won't be signed and I'll wholesale it and it will all be of very different designs and no one will say "Is that Joes?".

Nice idea tho.... :)

Well.......................

Sorry.....I'm outa line posting this topic this way. I'm not supposed to post links to my pictures the way I have been doing it. It makes sense the way the site requirements are set up just I havn't figured out how to do it right.....not that I can't but i don't have time right now. I can't edit this topic so i'm just going to end it by asking that no one respond or better to have the thread removed.

Thanks, and ......
