pinch roller sensor ?

My sp300v won't read the material width today.
Did a search and found the cable may be at fault, or the material width sensor might be dirty.

How do you get to this sensor to clean it?
When I go into cleaning mode, the heads move over to the left cover,
but the sensor isn't accessable.
Thank you

We had a similar problem and it was the carriage cable or whatever the fancy word is for it. Turns out if we readjusted the other in-between rollers just a hair, it would go about it's business again. However, this minor adjusting got worse and worse and eventually we had to replace it. Ours was a 54" model, but the cost was only about $100 for the cable. We were busy as all get out, so the tech put it in and it took less than an hour from start to finish. We can do it, but time wasn't on our side when we needed it replaced.

Had tried moving the pinch rollers a few times this morning, and it didn't help.
Just tried moving them again, and shifting the media, and now it's working.
Pretty sure it will need some attention soon....probably the cable?

Although I was aware of the problem, because they kept getting it to work, I didn't do anything. I later found out they had been nursing it for about 2 months, until one day I wanted to do something [which is rare] and BINGO..... WTF ?? Asked questions and found it it might take 3 or 5 minutes until it starts up again. Once I heard that, I made the arrangements to have it fixed immediately. A few seconds of minor tweaking isn't bad, but every time you'd change out a roll...... that adds up in a days time.

I wouldn't put it on a list of some sort, but order the part and get it in, cause it might not work for 1/2 an hour..... just when you need to get that order out the door by 3 in the afternoon.
