Hey guys, Wondering what everyone would suggest to make volume discounts on print/cut labels or stickers. I know it's up to the person really but i just wanted some insight on a good way to set it up.

I'm doing my volume discounting in signVOX on print/cut jobs.

Thanks!

I do a lot of wholesale print/cut and it is just easier to keep the same rate. I have a minimum that I go by because on my setup it takes a lot of material to do a few print/cut labels. And I also have a minimum price for how small they are. I'm not going to make $40 on a job that takes a hour cutting up 1000 tiny hardhat labels. I also charge a little more for something that is a detailed weed.

I do amazingly well on some jobs and complain about others. It evens itself out and anyone in my shop can price out if needed. I have a customer that screen prints decals and I get all of his smaller runs or numbered runs. He has been my number 1-4 customer for 10 years. He only requires me to bid on 10% of my jobs, the rest he can figure out on his own.

We price per square inch and have a decreasing three tiered scale depending on label size. i.e. the bigger the label the less per square inch. It took a bit to figure out, but a child could do it now.
And yes there are times where we don't make quite enough, but it is very rare. We get very creative with nesting and using the 'yield' from other jobs.

And no, I will not give up my pricing. Works for us may be horrible for you.

just like any volume discounting, you need to find where your time is optimized so that you are not wasting time on setup, cleanup and prep work. then just price accordingly based on that time model.
