Quick Swap Tool Holder for Graphtec

Rat_Fink

New Member

I’m now doing a bunch of perf cutting and find it a pain to swap the tool holders from rear to front positions.
I saw these 3d printed tool holders on Etsy that seem like they would work great, but the seller is in Germany and shipping is quite expensive to the US.

Anyone know of a seller in the US or someone that might have a print file for something like these so I can have them made locally?

Thanks!

Man who touches printers inappropriately.
Not a lot to the design, something that could be mocked up with someone with basic CAD skills. Might be better off using a spring-based system for that application instead of a piece that might fall off if not installed just right.

Lol... I was interested then I watched the video.... All he's doing is like 2 less screw turns, how is this a quick swap?

How much is shipping to USA? It's a $8 usd item with free shipping to Canada.

I may make a file though - our fc9000 threads keep breaking and we can't use the plastic piece with the screw, so something like this should work.

If I make one I'll upload the file.

On my cutter, I have to completely remove the retainer to move the blade holder to the front position.
Shipping to the USA is like $54.
I guess, I could just find/fabricate a slightly longer threaded knob so I wouldn’t have to actually remove the retainer.
I could also 3d print a spacer that goes behind the stock retainer er to make it so I wouldn’t have to turn the knob so much to tighten.

That is actually hilarious that shipping to USA is $54 and to Canada is $8 --- This is obvious warfare. They are only hurting themselves bigtime with these types of antics. The USA is the biggest market and they are kissing it goodbye. Another amazing opportunity for someone inside the USA to fill this ridiculous gap.

It sure is warfare Tarrifboy. Etsy automatically adds the Tarrifs you so love, to the cost of shipping, so the item clears USA Customs and doesnt get sent back - So that additional $46 is the tarrif + Tarrif processing fee USA is charging their citizens.

Do you want the seller to pay the $20-25 UPS charges to clear the item + the tarrif, on an $8 item.... Putting themselves $30+ in the hole? They have zero choice in this matter, unless they decide to pack up from Germany, move to USA and produce it in America.

But MAGA.... Stop supporting filthy foreign countries and buy it in your country where it can be American made.... You just need to find someone local who sells it.

I'd love to know your solution though - How are THEY hurting themselves? By not being American?

For an $8 item + $8 ship + $46 for "tariff" is 287.5% charge for the tariff if it is a broker fee added on say about $15 that tariff fee is still way off. USPS doesn't charge a brokerage fee. It would be helpful to know what carrier Etsy and the seller uses. Sucks for the seller. The USA is huge, we have plenty of domestic sellers and warehouses here in the USA. Good luck Germany, sucks for them.

You just said about $15 brokerage fee, then ups doesnt charge a brokerage fee.... I do a lot of international shipments - UPS charges $15-25 brokerage fee, and then duties / tariffs, as well as import taxes, etc. I'm assuming he's using chinese filament, since 90% of filament comes from china.

So $8 for the part... 50% tarrif + import taxes, + whatever the normal duties is since deminis is gone... $25-50 for the brokerage fee...it all depends on which country and what they are exporting, I know Canada is generally $25-30 depending on how many items, not sure on germany - plus all the other misc shitty fees.

Right now a lot of items are getting charged at the max tariff rate...Whether its supposed to or not, and the charges go to the receiver (Americans). We just shipped $750 worth of product to USA, And our customer got a $350 charge from Customs/UPS - It took us an hour on the phone to get it resolved because Canada isnt subject to Tariffs under USMCA items (So 90% of items).

$750 shipment, currently a 35% tariff on non eligible items... Yet customs tried to charge our customer $360 USD. UPS had to submit a complaint, get the charge removed, then once us customs finally removed it they had to get their accounting to remove the charge... This was just last week.

And I'm sure germany isnt crying over missing an $8 sale... USA is huge, but if you guys want to cut yourselves out of the global market... Then so be it.

But again...you're good at getting people to engage, I'll just leave it at this. I just found it funny you're a tarrifboy (By the way, it's spelled Tariff, not Tarrif) and then complain about having to pay huge import fees for a product... The seller doesnt set the shipping fees, its shipped through ETSY and they set the fees based on duties. I'd say it sucks for USA citizens, not germany, but to each their own.

UPS charges $15+ brokerage fee depending on the shipment. USPS does not charge a brokerage fee. This seller should ship it through USPS, and the buyer can request that from the seller.

I'm sure your USA buyer would not purchase the items from you if there was a $360 additional charge. Good job on getting those removed.

The USA isn't cutting itself out of the global market. It is working to enter the global market as both a buyer and seller. Previously it has been mostly buyer. USA is about FREE trade but only if it is equal. We aren't going to pay for your universal healthcare any longer.

I have the 2 pieces modelled - I'm just waiting for a new nozzle to come in for my 3d printer to tweak and test them.

Once they're done I'll upload the files, and if you don't have a 3d printer just send me your address and I'll ship some over at no cost

This is really cool. Even though we are at odds of opinion/perspective on certain things I think we can agree that the individual power that 3D printing gives to each of us is awesome. The maker in all of us and the absolute joy it produces inside of us to help others.
