This thread is intended to document known bugs in RasterLink, possible improvements, and any known workarounds.

1 - Bugs

The favorite for Outer Frame Cut (individual) is not use when a specific Cut condition (User settings) is set
The faborite for Outer Frame Cut (individual) is not saved in favorite (workaround is possible with change in the favorite ini file
The faborite for Outer Frame Cut (whole) is not saved in favorite

2 - Improvements
In job list the line space is not keep when rasterlink is close.
in job list put print/cut in 1 line or 2 lines (option) an icon like in versaworks it's easier to read
speed of rasterlink , the interface is very slow

I reported the outer frame cut issue to mimaki last year. I was told they don't care and to not expect it to get fixed. just do all your cuts with cutcontour layers.

The Outer Frame cut individual ?
i have send yesterday files and a job backup to my french tech. the file will be send to a tech in mimaki fr (who says everything is working)
I have started tos send message by the contact form to mimki japan, and mimaki fr.

I believe that writing them on a regular basis can be helpful.

my main problem actually is the faborite for Outer Frame Cut (whole) not saved in favorite.

If you notice any bugs not listed above, I can add them.

Yes, the outer frame cuts don't tool change. I submitted extensive bug reports and videos last summer, and even after two firmware revisions and many Rasterlink7 revisions, nothing changed, despite the feature being clearly documented.
Mimaki US has stated very clearly not to expect it to be fixed.

It's don't work for the individual but for the whole it's work.
put a message on mimaki.com

i think it's important to report bug , if it's like in france they can do nothing experpt send the problem to mimaki japan.

Mimaki USA has pretty much 0 control over software and firmware decisions. Their techs send reports to Mimaki Japan but I've been working with them for almost 16 years and anytime I've ever sent in a bug, they ghost me.

Yes, Stephane, Mimaki Japan has been aware of the outercut bug since I reported it last summer. Two firmwares and multiple software revisions since the bug was extensively documented and reported resulted in zero fixes and zero feedback, neither direct nor through my vendor nor through mimaki usa techs. They don't give a damn. But if you still want to waste your time, go for it.

It'd be a great shortcut to use if it worked, but since it doesn't, ya just gotta do outer cuts the same way theyve always been done.

I haven't found a mimaki (japan) facebook or X account , to post message directly in the account , i will wait 2 weeks and i will write directly on the linkedin mimaki software Engineer
i'm a developper and i sell software too, for me fix bug is normal , it's part of the job.

Outside of doing some mini games, most of my stuff is inhouse tooling, but from what I can imagine when dealing with companies, most of the time they are interested in shipping new features versus fixing old debt and have to remember, even if they squash this bug, doesn't mean that due to it's fix implementation, there might be other bugs that come out of it that may actually be worse. Yea it sucks, but it does happen even with what people think of as simple fixes.

If there is any dev constraints (time, pressure etc), I would be worried about a bug fix being delegated to what passes for "AI" and who knows what that would result in. Best one can do is report it, hope that it gets fixed.

Ironically most people forget a significant clause that most software use, be it OSS or proprietary:

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED 'AS IS', WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE

This exact scenario would fit into the "as is" portion of that clause. Have more sway with a critical bug. Now, one could make arguments as to why they should or should not do something, but that's another thing entirely.

We always say you never fix a problem completely.
you trade one problem for a new one, created by the “fix”
hopefully you prove me wrong

yes simple fixes can break something else.
Write to Mimaki regularly with a list of unfixed bugs. This doesn't produce good images and can help with their resolution.
My machine, a CJV150-75, is really good, and the internal software is too. It's just that RasterLink isn't up to par, even though it does part of the job quite well.

You know what our fix was? Drop RasterJunk and run our Mimaki from Onyx.

I spent a couple of days using it and quickly realized it was garbage. Typos, poor translations, terminology that doesn't even make sense....etc.

Going from Roland Versaworks to Mimaki Rasterlink was a rude awakening!

White Haus , i have try onyx but in my case , rasterlink or vesaworks are better. i only print&cut the same thinks. (clothes iron labels). i only print a good job queue with automation.
the only one i haven't tested yet is caldera. but onyx was not good for that. i have try flexi but the mark are bigger than mimaki software and i loose a lot of space in the roll.

Rasterlink is good for a first time user who just wants to use a generic, boxed profile and hit print. The second you need to do anything more advanced, it falls off quickly. I've installed more Mimakis than I can count and any customers with experience with a full featured RIP hates Rasterlink.

In fact when you just search a print queue management system , versaworks and rasterlink make the job. i think versawors is easier but rasterlink work too. i have tested a lot of rip software (except caldera) and they don't make this an easier way. i print and cut sticker only in the same external size (10x15cm) , i make the pdf with php. i need an hot folder that can arrange it by 6 and print&cut.

i have a news from my tech

There will be two updates to RL7:

1- The first in June 2026: to correct the cut condition settings in RL7

2- The second in September 2026: one for favorite conditions and the other for the cut order.
