Roland Print/Cut Resale Value

Hey all, I’m jumping back into the print industry after being out for nearly 10 years. I’m going to purchase a TrueVIS VG3-640 for decal printing, etc. I’m curious what you’re seeing for resale value on the Roland print/cut printers in general after around 3 years after use, assuming it’s been well maintained and print/cut quality is good? I ask because I may want to upgrade and won’t have space for multiple machines.

You'll get 5k for it easy/fast if your location is good, $8k + if you are patient and get lucky, also depends on your location.

I sold 3 rolands a year ago, starting price for 8k, didn't sell for months lowered to $5k, buyers started asking about it but ended up selling for about $3k because I needed them gone

check FB marketplace in your area to get an idea

Including some oddball equipment (rotary engravers and that type of stuff) i probably bought 60 pieces of equipment since i “retired“ in 2018,

ebay generally finds you the highest price for used equipment, followed by craigslist, offerup/letgo then facebook marketplace.

obviously, victor, you know your area better than i do, but, i get my best bargains on facebook marketplace. It seems everybody on there looks but always hesitate to pull the trigger on the sale

FB cash payment has some advantages over ebay credit card payment. makes up for the price difference

Thanks for your replies! The new 64” Roland print/cut printer is approx $23k new. What are your thoughts on its resale value in 3 years in great condition and in a good location.

roland VG3 640 is under 18k new, there is always a sale going on and they rarely sell for msrp

over 5k if you're lucky.

I just did a search on FB marketplace and lots of rolands in the 5k range, ebay is under 5k range but older machines. Most listings are months old

Yikes, thanks for looking. Looks like it makes sense to keep it running vs trying to sell it.
Unless you are are using it constantly every day and running it into the ground, then it is better to keep it going. Properly maintained they should last for 10 years plus, and the technology doesn't change that much, so selling a perfectly good machine at 3 years doesn't make much financial sense.
