Roland sp540v not printing on media after 42"

My printer is giving me problems right in between 42" and 44" its not printing correctly its like the colors are not lining up and its not laying down the ink, i tried different media and it does the same thing.

Colors shift and do not line up. Please help me figure this out.

Do you know how much is the part? I tried cleaning it but no luck.

Think I remember it to be pretty inexpensive. 50 - 75.00
I think I remember it to be easy to install as well

And I agree, this would be my first step for the problem

Def clean or replace the encoder. It is either dirty or scratched. Do not clean it with cleaning solution. At the very most, rubbing alcohol.

Before replacing anything, physically make sure all the cables are seated. Looking at them won't cut it.

If that checks out get into service mode. Then do a sensor check. If that is OK then try a linear calibration. If that fails you've likely found the culprit.
