I have this laminator. It's a little persnickity.. But I figured it was mostly user error.
The take up reel on the back doesn't seem to work. It was working when I first got it, but it became inconsistent. I used to be able to manually turn it to get it going again. Now that's not even working. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix it? The guys that work on my printer don't seem to have a clue on this one.

I know this sounds a bit arrogant....but the Royal Sovereign units....they are a company who focuses on high speed thermal laminators for an entirely different market and then they went and made a "wide format" unit. You are always going to struggle with the unit and struggle to get them repaired. Save up and buy a new or used Kala or Seal (Base or Pro, not the EL) and you'll love it and love how empty your trash bins will be. If you ever get to that point of having a conversation on a really good laminator, please reach out!

I'd bet most don't love it. There's not a lot of room to get your hands in between the rollers...not much in the way of adjusting pressure and tension. If you haven't used a different laminator, then you don't know what you are missing. If you come to Print United, let me know and I'll show you why Seal and Kala make good machines....I don't sell AGL but those are nice as well (although a little over engineered for today's standards). I preach all the time....if you buy the right laminator it will be run for 10-20 years. The wrong ones get replaced every couple of years.

Knock on wood, my RSC-1650 is 19 years old and still getting it. Only ever used it for laminating no mounting.
