SP540V black print problems

I have problem printing black with my SP540V ... what can cause this (see picture attach) ? There are lines of black going out of the printed text and there's some black ink overspray around some of the letters

I've clean the head, did a powerfull clean and it doesn't help
The only thing that helps a bit is when I choose a beter quality of printing in versaworks.

I don't know if it can be related but I sometimes have another problem related to the same head ... this other problem is that my CYAN color is printing black when the machine hadn't print for 2 or 3 days. I have to print a big CYAN rectangle which starts printing black and finishes CYAN after printing about 4 to 6 inch of lenght.

Another problem that I've juste remember is also from that same head. The problem is with CYAN only ... when printing a big CYAN rectangle, the print is OK at the right but at the left it's like if there was banding on the print.

I've placed a tech service call for monday but if I can rid of this problem without having the tech to come it would save me time and money

Thanks for your help

Overspray is usually the result of static. Cyan printing black after sitting for a day or two indicates a bad cap top.

I hang fabric softener sheets across the back of my printer. They need to be almost touching the vinyl. There are more elegant solutions but I'm cheap and they're always in stock. Plus we rarely have static issues. We closely monitor temperature and more importantly humidity.
You never mentioned what the humidity level was in your shop. Anything under 50% your asking for problems.

Pretty good question ... never looked at the humidity and temperature ... I'm in a sort of big garage 20 x 40 and their's no air conditionning so I don't really have any way to control these parameters. I think I have a thermometer that also shows humidity at home ... I will bring it to the shop and look at it.

Rjssigns any issue with the fabric softer sheets touching the vinyl? I have a strand of Christmas tree garland across the back of the printer lightly dragging on the vinyl.

Nope. We set it about a sixteenth inch above and don't let it touch as a rule. The couple times they did touch didn't seem to cause issues. I just don't like it touching because of all the other chemicals in it.
