SPxxx"i" series: down time?

I haven't timed it, but it appears that my SP540i turns on all by itself about every 8 hours or so, assumably to keep some ink going through the heads. During those multiple days when it's not being used, is this built-in sequence equivilant to turning the machine on and doing a small CMYK print - and thereby rendering the exercise of doing that small print, unnecessary?

You will want to always leave it set like that. It doesnt use alot of ink because it is simply just purging the heads. Running a CMYK test print of some sort is always helpful to. Because that actually fires the head with actual voltage which in turns moves the ink through the entire ink system.
