Status of Gerber Scientific Inc.

What is the status of Gerber Scientific Inc. and more importantly, 15" punched material? I have been running Gerber plotters for 20 years. I have been struggling to get 15" material lately in a timely manner and the price is very high. I talked to a rep from 3M yesterday and he didn't seem optimistic about the status of the material in the future. How quickly do I need to be moving towards something else?

i love my gerber stuff, although i don't run it as much as i used to

on my roland print & cut the user manual says you can expect to stay in registration "as much as 7 feet" i think
what's not to love about a sprocket feed machine that stays in registration for a 150 ft roll?

I know in the past that Gregory will convert unpunched roles to punched roles. I would reach out to them to find out the process. Have you also reached out to Hyatts or GMS? Both of them are still firmly in the Gerber camp and should have material available.

I should also note that there really isn't a Gerber Edge FX alternative that's viable. The technology that they used, while ancient, is very different from inkjets. For what it does, it does it very, very well.

Avery and Oracal both sell punched roll 15” rolls. We use a fair amount as we have a few popular products still printed on the edge. It’s usually not in stock with the local distributors but we can get it in a few days.

There are a few routes you could explore, depending on what you're currently doing and what your concerns are.

We're still running Gerber Edge / plotters and have no problems with availability up here in Canada. Which products specifically are you having issues with?

WE actually have 3 edges ( + 2 15" plotters & an oddyssey) , although they are used much less than they once were
