It resembles some of the Copperplates as if some seriffs had been knocked off.

Colin, I'm sure you know that the V has had the swoosh removed in your image. The company is basicly in my back yard and been around for close to 100 years. It's been the same logo for as long as I can remember. Due to that and the hideous inconsistency of strokes, I'd say its not a font or typeface.
