Through-cut Decals

A potential client will need 1000's of small arrows per month. I said "Yup, we can do that". Now he says he wants the backing through-cut so his guys don't have to cut the pieces out of a sheet. I don't have a flatbed cutter, just my trusty SP540. Given the potential volume I am looking at subbing out also. Bare minimum would be 1020 arrows per month for that product line.
Any ideas/suggestions?

Sounds like the perfect job for a Gerber Edge FX + Gerber EnVision.

Maybe once I get rolling I could invest in a rig like that, but I fear the equipment would be run into the ground. If this job hits the arrows would run into the thousands per month.:omg:

Does he just want them in singles or did he actually request that the liner be the same shape as the vinyl?

He requested single pieces and originally wanted a through-cut in the shape of the arrow. Said it saved his guys from have to scissor cut them out of a sheet. But I said when you are putting 100's of them in a bag the sharp corners will have a tendency to snag. Hence the bratwurst shape.

I have a meeting tomorrow to discuss installation techniques. I know that these have to be placed at fairly exact degrees of rotation, so maybe the peel off the sheet and stick is not an option. I haven't seen the actual install technique yet, but I heard they use a protractor to get the angle of rotation. There are 38 arrows per side.

If they need to be installed precisely, why not leave on square backer and premask? Peel and slap on isn't very accurate.

I tried to talk them into printing the location numbers in the arrowhead so when the number is vertical it is the exact degree of rotation. That went good until the end client said: "Nope we don't like it".
If I land this contract it will be status quo, just that I am twenty minutes away instead of 2000 miles like their current vendor.
