I was just there too! LOVED it! Went with my son last year on a "one off vaca" to watch Wild West Shootout races in NM and liked the area so much we went back this year to Phoenix for them. Did you go to the Phoenix Botanical Garden? We did that (so awesome), headed to the Grand Canyon for a couple days then hit the racetrack. I'd like to go back again next year and see some ghost towns. And yes - much better than our Wisconsin/Canadian cold weather!
That sounds like an amazing trip, and so great that you got to experience it with your son! I didn't get the see the Botanical Gardens, unfortunately. Next time I go back I will definitely check it out, along with Sedona and the Grand Canyon. We were just there for 3 short days and only got to explore a bit. I'd love to do some hikes and see more of the mountains next time.

Sure! I've never been to Phoenix, but last fall took a road trip to Vegas. We were in Arizona for 5 minutes! Saw some beautiful landscapes on our trip. I'll see If I can post some pics. I need to get them off my camera.
It is surprisingly beautiful, not sure what I was expecting but the landscape was amazing. Whole city is surrounded by mountains which is a nice treat coming from the flat prairies!

Phoenix Botanical Garden. Allow a morning or afternoon $30per person. Nice wide paths for elderly or disabled. Plenty of guides telling about the plants, the Indian culture, etc. Several paths, one for each type of sub climate in Arizona.

If you are an experienced hiker there's a path that goes through the bottom of the canyon from the North rim to the South rim - takes about 24 hours if you are like 30 and experienced (wasn't for me LOL). There's also a campsite on the bottom you can stay at. If you are just a normal person who likes to hike check out the Angel Trail on the south rim. You can go down as far as you want and then just come back up like the same day. We downloaded a tour on our phone and drove to different spots then hiked and the guy tells you about the area you are in and what to look at. I thought I did my homework before we left but I wish I had looked into it a bit more and we would have spent more time on the Angel trail and made a day of it. The 3rd pic is my son on the Angel trail which goes down and across. We saw the canyon for the first time at sunrise...was really awesome to see it that way for the first time! The last photo if you see the flat area and a whiteish line...that's a trail! That's the stuff we SHOULD have done but didn't know about.

A few sort of travel shots:
About to sail to Tribune Bay on Hornby island (a whale cut right across our path on that trip)
Kayaking on Buntzen Lake BC
A random sunset from LaManzanilla
Sunset at the marina in Sidney BC

I like to microdose and watch Rick Steves tell all about his travels. It’s a nice trip and no TSA to deal with.
