US Tariffs, Sigh!

I think it's cancel culture. People are too afraid to say what they think and feel because others will judge them at best, or try to get them fired or worst.

I feel like the left tried to over correct.... And we ended up where we are now. Who in their right mind really believes 12 year old kids are informed enough to make a decision to have gender reassignments? I can't even sign a form to get my kid a permanent tattoo.... But he can decide to go on hormone blockers and become a girl, which can cause long lasting / permanent damage? I'm betting you even n the left 80-90% of people don't agree with that.... But they're afraid of what will be said to or about them if they said it.

And now I feel like the right is trying to over correct too.... And I just hope before it gets to a point of no return like this cancel culture bullshit, there becomes a breaking point where people on both sides can agree what's going on isn't right, and put a stop to it.

I still firmly believe trump could be a good president that actually brings America forward and fixes a lot of issues it's been having... But people treat him like a king that does not wrong and he's not afraid to act like one. On paper what he's trying to do is great, but giving up freedoms in order to obtain that is just putting the needle in the other direction.
Okay, now you are making sense.

I think Trump should fire Pam Bondi (she made some comments the other day about hate speech and she is the AG, which is totally against what USA stands for) right away because of exactly what you said about our freedom of speech and putting a chill on speech with cancel culture. We should put up in every school "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". You are 100% correct. People need to retaliate with well thought out articulate arguments and in the process of thinking up their argument I can guarantee you that they will learn what really IS and what really ISN'T. We need to bring back discourse. Discourse causes innovation towards the truth. Scientists haven't figured everything out yet, in fact they have only scratched the surface on everything. Someone or something is pinning all of us against each other all while we all generally want the same core things.

The government didn't fire him. This was a business decision by his network based on ethics and economics. His show had low ratings and was losing money.

The real issue is celebrating someone's assassination and seeing nothing wrong with that behavior. It's a matter of basic morality and treating others the way you'd want to be treated.

There's an important distinction here: words are not the same as violence, but celebrating actual violence crosses a clear ethical line.
The FCC chair Brenden Carr literally said "We can do this the easy way or the hard way." the same day his show was suspended. Don't pretend like this wasn't some "Would be an awful shame if your business were to burn to the ground" mafia-type shit.

Well it is pretty early to really know what is going to happen. The same thing happened to Tucker Carlson and I didn't see anyone in the Main Stream Media up in arms, to the contrary, they were all celebrating, including Jimmy Kimmel.

I have never seen the left cry so hard for anyone but the craziest people. This in itself is very telling.

Where was your speech when Tucker Carlson or Roseanne Barr got fired? Jimmy Kimmel has actually only been suspended. Tell your lefty side (don't pretend your aren't) not to cancel first and then maybe you will have a horse to ride. I'll wait...

Here is your list ikarasu:
Jimmy Kimmel FAFO
Saint George Floyd whos mural got struck by lightening
Rioter who got shot by Kyle Rittenhouse in self defense
Juicy Smolett and his whole "Maga Country" theater
Maryland Man who is now in Africa

Kimmel actually used to be funny:

The Kimmel slot should be offered to Adam Corolla

I'm not left... Nor am I right, not do I consider myself center really. I've lived in Canada for 4x as long as I've had my US citizenship... I've voted once, and that was in an American election, and funny enough, for trump. Canada doesn't have Democrats / Republicans - we somewhat have a left and a right, but it's still different than USA's. were not as... Us vs them as you guys, they still work together... But it's mainly in compromises, and I'd say they're further left and further right when it comes to policies and politics, which is why I don't follow or identify as either. I follow what I think is right, I don't care if it's the right or left that does It, I don't care if I call a Republican president the worst thing that could happen to America, and then the next day do the same to a democrat one. My alignment is "for the people", which is why I'm still a firm believer in praising someone when they do something right, and calling them out when they do something wrong.... No matter the side of the isle they're on.

These threads were started due to tarrifs, so no matter what the focus is going to be on trump. But I've praised Kirk.... I've called out people who are saying shit things about him, I've pointed out some of Trump's policies I agree with, and a lot I don't. I have zero problem saying what I agree with and don't, whether it makes left's hate me... Or Rights hate me. I'll never vote again in my life because there's no point, I'm sick of the left and I'm sick of the right, and I wouldn't be proud to label myself as either, so why support either one?

And for the record... I was against rosanne being fired, I actually used to watch the show... Then stopped after they fired her.

Did she say something that could be taken as racist? Sure, but again .. she's a comedian, comedians are supposed to push people to the edge of uncomfortableness and turn it into a laugh.

As for Carlson or the others, I didn't even follow them so I'm not sure why they were fired. If it was for something they said, I'm sure unless it was something extremely crazy that hurt Fox's branding, if be against it.
