I think right now due to the shutdown, despite Trump's best efforts to blame the Democrats, a lot of people are blaming Republicans since they hold the majority in the senate, Congress and President.... So while I may seem like it's going to be a big blue wave I'm betting come midterms once the shutdown is over it'll be status quo like normal

Personally, IDGAF who the mayor of NYC is, it doesn't impact me in the slightest. If he can show his policies can produce results, I'm all for it. Better for them to play in someone else's backyard than mine, bring successful policies my way after they're proven.

He is a practicing Muslim so he's being compared to London's mayor. He's also only 34 and never had a job. New York is the financial capital of the world with 8.48 million residents. He made a lot of promises he won't be able to keep.
• Fast and free buses
(paid for by the tax increase, not sure how you make them faster?)
• Government run grocery stores with cheaper groceries
(there's only a 1-2% mark-up on groceries to begin with and over 16,000 grocery stores in NY so he will never be able to make a dent)
• Tax millionaires and above 1-2%
(Governor Hochul is the only one who can increase this tax and it doesn't sound like she's going to do it because the rich will flee)
• Rent freeze
(he can only freeze rent in government housing and I think again, the Governor has to approve it and not sure she is going to do that)
• Construct 200,000 new government apartments
(with all the regulations and red-tape - good luck. It takes 6-12 months just to build a 1 family house)
• Defund the police crap again so will probably become more dangerous and with all the "free" handouts a haven for losers looking for free stuff.

Hell I'm game to see what he does. Once again, no skin off my back. Those NYC folks seem to like him enough. I'm quite interested to see how his increased tax on the wealthy plays out.
They don't need the 60 votes, they can nuke the filibuster and move right along, they're just afraid of losing that leverage when the tables are turned, as they should be.
From what you understand?
My wife was diagnosed with cancer 11 years ago. She was in for surgery in 3 weeks, weekly follow ups for 3 months, then monthly for another year and every 6 months after that.
All drugs included for 10 years. My only out of pocket expense was parking at the hospital.
Canadian health care has its issues, but you are deluded if you think the US system is better.
Canada is a small country compared to USA, so it's hard to say we have a better army... Better GDP... Better political system, were a baby country compared to almost any other country, were barelly older than 150... That means my great grandpa was around before the country was born, so it's hard to beat other countries on certain things, but healthcare, even though it's not perfect, is one thing almost every Canadian can agree and be proud of is better than America / other countries.
Our system has flaws - and if we had America's population, I imagine our system would crash easily, everyone says it doesn't scale well and that's why it's getting worst and worst... so I'm not saying our system should be implemented in USA. But there's so much bs information politicians spread about our healthcare to make it sound bad, when in reality I honestly think 99% of the population would rather keep our healthcare than go private - everyone has gripes and thinks our healthcare needs reforming, but the core of it is generally agreed upon to be good, we just need to build upon it and make it better.
And again, before it starts a debate.... I don't know Obamacare or ACA or anything else, I think USA should be a leader in healthcare and provide healthcare for all, whether they call it trumpcare, or Maga care, or whatever else it wants to be called - free healthcare should be a priority for every politician and president no matter what side of the isle they stand on.. I'd rather my taxes go towards keeping me alive if I need it vs paving a new road or building a new park or funding a new war.

Please go back and reread what I said. I never said that the US system was better. The US system has turned to crap since the inception of Obamacare.
