Using Ai (ChatGPT) to help match spot colors.

"It's always something"
We have an old program named CATZper we still use to match color, however I was curious if ChatGPT could help do a similar task. After uploading the .PDF CATZper generated, I asked ChatGPT to do something similar but use Pantone 375 as the reference. After answering a couple questions such as tolerance, steps and range, I was able to have ChatGPT generate a vector graphic that looked like the following. This could be a game changer for some that do a lot of color matching and I figured I'd share.

you can't SCAN to chat gpt.
It's more of a visual thing. Flexi has a similar feature that does about the same thing. You pick the Pantone, it prints a grid of said pantone varying the CMYK levels like above, you print it, then choose the one that matches the actual pantone the best. Once you do that, you just replace that Pantone with the color you chose. It's the next best thing to color match when you don't have a spectro.

We use Caldera and it has a similar option.

Not sure how this is any better than the in server programs. Is this simply to make the grid of colors?

I'm not familiar with all RIP systems. If a function like this is built into every RIP, this wouldn't be very helpful. However, I know my early days of Caldera, this would have been useful. Is there an online tool that does the same thing for free?

It sounds like Flexi has it, I use Onyx with it. If you're looking to make a spread of swatches from an area of color you can use the Blend tool in Illustrator with steps to it. Make 4 corners of color, blend 2 pairs, then blend the in-betweens.
Currently, to get a head start instead of going from scratch, I create a CMYK Booklet of each printer(I have a latex and solvent with differences in values).
I use this chart. Print it out with my profile off so it hits them as they are valued and then I can find a starting point to really narrow down where I need to find the color, so instead of printing a giant grid, I have a specific zone to look at.
