Versaworks profile

Hi have been reading all the posts regarding creating your own profiles with Versaworks and i1Pro2 but I can't get it figured out.

I'm new to this side of the business and I want to get good colors, something i'm not currently getting.

Can someone please help me with an idiots guide and talk me through what I need to do from start to finish.

I understand I need to be designing in RGB 1998 in Illustrator which I am ok with and I've made a profile using the guides on this forum but my colors either come out different of very very puddled meaning there is far too much ink being laid down.

Follow this guide until you reach the part when you are told to use ProfileMaker Pro. You then need to use your i1Profile software at this point.

That doesn't help with getting the correct linearization measurement.
