VG-540 Canceled for Pump Protection after canceled head wash — stuck, can't clear even in service mode

Hi everyone,

I have a Roland TrueVIS VG-540 that is stuck in a "Canceled for Pump Protection" error and I can't get past it. Here's exactly what happened:

I started a head wash and canceled it mid-cycle. After that, every time I power on the printer it runs for a few seconds, I can hear the pump trying to start, and then it throws the pump protection error and shuts down.

Here's what I've already tried:
- Full power off for several hours — no change
- Checked the cap tops — they spring back freely, nothing looks clogged
- Checked the waste ink tube — no kinks or clogs, waste tank is not full
- Checked the damper arms — all seem to spring back
- Carriage is correctly parked on the cap station (far right)
- Entered service mode — but the pump protection error triggers even during service mode startup before I can navigate to any menu

The error fires about 3-5 seconds into startup every single time. I can hear the pump briefly attempting to run before it shuts down.

My question: Is there any way to clear this error state through a manual procedure or service reset without VSdt? And if not, is there anything else I should check before calling a tech?

Any help is hugely appreciated — this machine is down. Thank you!

Try this:
power off the printer at the Main Power switch.
Pull out the in cartridges..
Turn on Main Power switch and the panel power.
Wait for printer to start up and ask for the ink cartridges.
Put them in slowly one at a time and let’s see what happens

Did work I tried it a couple times and nothing. The pump error comes out right away.

Try to pinch the hose from the wiper sump and do the tray cleaning. Suck the sump clean with a syringe. Install the latest firmware

The next logical step would be a system parameter initialization.

But you either need a copy of the original parameters, or you need to enter them manually.(for example the head ranks of all four heads or print head alignments and some other alignments as well) This is certified engineer stuff... at least you should have a service manual.

If you happened to be my customer, i'd have your parameters in my database, because they get saved when connected to Peck2.
