Good morning,
my machine was off and the head carriage was in the middle of the printer, I turned the printer on and noticed that the carriage was not in its home position so as the machine was turning on I gave the carriage a little push towards home, it was moving when the machine turned on and I got the 068 encoder error. I turned the machine off and moved the carriage to the home position and still get the error, I get it no matter where the carriage is., I've tried unplugging and all that and I still get the error. my theory is because the carriage was moving when the machine came on that the position is not in the same place and the machine doesn't know where the carriage is. it seems like if I could just reset home position id have a chance. Any thoughts anyone?

The carriage shouldn’t be in the middle because when you turn the printer off it’s always in its “home”.
Maybe it got the error while running and you didn’t notice
Try cleaning the encoder strip
I was getting encoder errors while cleaning. Cleaning the strip fixed it. A bit of ink had splashed onto it
