VS 540I Upgrade, How old is this Model?

I have a SP540i that I have had for 5years now It has been a good machine. My Roland dealer called me and offered
to do me a trade up deal to a new VS540i. My question is, how many years has the VS540i been out for now? I
don't want to buy a model that is going to be discontinued in a year from now. Or would this new VS540i be a better machine and last me another 5 or 6 years

If the SP is still working and doing what yo are needing it to do then why upgrade and take on more expense

There is a world of difference between the SP and the VS. At least two generations- and if it was to be discontinued... it will keep on printing.
