Warping sign

DL Signs

Never go against the family
I have had 1/2" acrylic signs do the same thing with laminate glued to the face
half inch acrylic? Wow, I use clear half inch as tops for our 4x8' lighted tables with cutting mats over it, and they've never warped at all. Takes a lot of pressure/ heat, or both to warp that. Starting to sound like whatever substrate you end up using will need to have better structural integrity, and probably be laminated on both sides to boot... I'd be thinking about aluminum as an option too, and lam both sides. The crazy issues we deal with...

We will not be flying our installers back to Vegas to install the new sign, so it has to be a cleat mount that they can just put on and plug in themselves
Just to point out, it looks like the bottom cleat seperated from the wall, someone is going to have to use a little common sense getting this back up rather than lift-remove-lift-place.

1/2" cast acrylic will not warp in this situation.

One of the problems is using 2 different strong materials. Heat and humidity my bend them at different amounts And since the are both tough they are forced to curl. I have handled this in certain pieces but using a strong stiff back layer, but a thinner more pliable art layer. The thinner layer isn't strong enough to cause warping effect.

I made a sign of a similar structure but with ACM face laminated over PVC, I have not been informed of any warping in the past 4 years. A bottom cleat does definitely help both for stability (2 areas making contact) and having a bit of a "hook" on the bottom won't allow it to pull. We actually hung it off of the top cleat and sent a screw through the bottom cleat as a "set screw".
As for adhesive, we use the 3M 950 double back tape adhesive to keep the ACM to the PVC. and LORDS glue to adhere the cleats.
