power-down your machine and check your cable connections. printhead ribbons, specifically.

still doing it,

but the pattern changed. i took the cables out and put them back in and the pattern changed... weird.

Cables

Take a close look at the contacts on the cables. They are only rated to be removed a few times before they fail. Get new cables before you fry your main board
